Image Capture

Digital cameras are the initial device to capture images although various things can be altered to make sure the images are the best quality they can be. Image capturing is simply getting images onto a computer. Usually devices such as cameras or mobile phones are connected to the computer with a USB and the images are downloaded and saved automatically as JPEGS. Scanning is also a method used to transfer images onto a computer and is done by simply scanning the document and a duplicate is created on the screen. Again these are most commonly saved as JPEGS which is lossy compression meaning quality of the image may be lost. However other file formats that images can be saved as include GIFs and PNGs.

You can choose what resolution you would like images to be saved as the majority of the time, meaning how many pixels per inch the image has.
